Ecological Restoration Plans
Arthurs Point Community Association, in conjunction with QLDC & DoC, is working on a restoration and preservation plan for the local flora and fauna. The plan, commissioned by APCA and developed by Willdland's, set's out a multi-generational plan to return the conservation estate in and around Arthur's Point to it's pre-human state.
For more information, you can find a copy of the full ecological report here.
Ongoing planting around Arthurs Point
The Arthurs Point community has been planting native flora donated by QLDC. So far, we've enhanced some key spots, including:
-
Morning Star Reserve
-
The end of Atley Road
-
Herron Reserve
We're hoping to continue the project in these areas next:
-
School Yard Reserve
-
Larkins Way Reserve

Evenings on the river
The Shotover River is home of the jetboats during the day, but in the evening, you might spot some hardy folk floating from near Morning Star Beach all the way to Tuckers Beach.

APCA in conjunction with Central Otago Whitewater have negotiated year round access to the river on Wednesday and Friday evenings from 5:30pm. Provided you don't have a motorised craft you can access and use this section of river without a permit (outside of these times you will still need a permit).
There are specific requirements for using the river and these are captured on this information poster
Also check out this link from ORC for further information on real-time river flow.
The latest community messages can also be found on the "Friends of the Shotover River" Facebook page.
